MBI Color History: Santa Fe Railway by Steve Glischinski-Hardcover(LN)-(2008)

Perhaps the most well-known railroad in transportation history, the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway grew from humble beginnings in 1868 to a high-flying icon of the American West known more simply as “the Santa Fe.” In 1995, it merged with Burlington Northern and today its legacy survives as part of BNSF Railway. Noted railroad author Steve Glischinski takes railfans on a tour of the Santa Fe’s entire history, throughout the American Midwest and Southwest. Santa Fe Railway looks into all aspects of the legendary railroad’s passenger and freight operations, from the famous 1905 record-breaking L.A.-to-Chicago high-speed run of “Death Valley Scotty” to the inauguration and career of the world-class Super Chief, and from the pioneering freight trains of the nineteenth century to modern-era intermodal runs linking Chicago and California in less than 48 hours. The book also features notable Santa Fe locomotives, from diminutive 4-4-0 steam models to the Super Fleet diesel-electric series of the 1990s and even the latest models run under the BNSF Railway banner. Illustrated throughout with archival black-and-white images and period and modern color photography, this is the quintessential history of the quintessential American railroad.

Appears to have been lightly used. The corner of the dustcover has been worn slightly as pictures show.
