Department 56 6003071 Victorian Grange House
Grange houses are historically mid-size to larger homes found on farms. Land ownership allowed for a comfortable house, big enough so that part of the farm responsibilities could be conveniently done within the structure. For example, behind the small door at the base of the turret housed the chicken coop, so fetching eggs on a cold morning was much easier. The steep pitched roof helped to shed heavy snow, while diamond paned windows allowed plenty of light inside on dreary, rainy days.
