Dwarf Signals (8003 and 8004) tell it all...individually placed, you can be sure that the switch was thrown as seen clear across your whole layout. Or, you are an Engineer and you want the status of a clear switch or not switched track, no matter what track or direction you are running. You would want the 8011 set of 3 Dwarfs, 2-8003s and 1-8004 for the side track.

See image, the LEFT Switch application example using the FASTRACK SWITCH CONTROL . State 1 shows the switch running on a main line (example only). The curved siding is Red (8004) and the straight main line with 2-8003s showing Green. Then, you switch toward a siding artery and all 3 Dwarfs change state Red to Green (8004) and Green to Red (8003s).
