Model Train Engine O Scale Used Lionel 6-38498 O Scale Pennsylvania DD35A #2830 Legacy Diesel w/Box

A previously owned and used Lionel 6-38498 O Scale Pennsylvania DD35A #2830 Legacy Diesel.
The model comes in the original that has some wear.
It has the manual, spare traction tires, and the orange memory module.
Looking over the model one of the MU hose detail pieces is broken off and part of the railing on the front is missing, please view the photos.
One of the shell screw hole mounts is broken so only 5 screws are holding the shell on.
Other than that, is a pretty nice looking locomotive.
The paint work is excellent and all of the lettering is legible.
Tested the model with a Legacy system.
It runs well, but the rear smoke unit fan squeaks and the front electro-coupler has a hard time closing.
Other than that, all is working well.
Lights all work, both of the electro-couplers open, 2 operating smoke units, and the sounds are great.
Overall is a pretty nice model that is in very good condition that would make for a great piece have in one's collection.

The Double Diesel

In 1963, the 5000 h.p., 88-foot DD 35 by GM’s Electro Motive Division was completed. This mammoth “double diesel” represented a significant turning point in railroading history as many railroads shifted out of the turbine era and committed more fully, to a modern age of diesel-electrics. Initially a demonstration train unit of two GP35 and two DD 35 engines toured the country on the rails, decorated in an eye-catching red and whitescheme.

Both Southern Pacific and Union Pacific purchased a number of the massive engines, and at Union Pacific’s request, EMD redesigned the engine as a DD 35A complete with a cab and a narrow nose atthe front.

Joining the prototypical Union Pacific DD 35A, new DD 35A roadnames are being offered now added to the roster, realistically decorated in“what-if” schemes which show off in spectacular fashion how classic railroad decoration might have looked on this special diesel.
