Lionel Postwar F3 2344 with METCA Special Edition Body Shell Needs TLC
A vintage postwar Lionel diesel locomotive, #2344. Formally with NYC paint. Body has been replaced by a Limited Edition body shell made in 1971 using the original postwar mold. Body was made to celebrate METCA's 10th aniversary, and was only available in limited numbers. Frame was repainted to match the body (see photos). In Excellent condition, with no damage to body or frame and rust free. Features working interior light, Magnetraction, and an electronic coupler on the nose (non-functional). Horn did not work. Unit is equipped with dual horizontal worm drive motors powering each axle.Â
During testing, E-unit cycles normally between forward-neutral-reverse. Motors try to spin and move, but feel stuck, possibly due to dried grease or other dirt/gunk. Locomotive has potential to be a great runner after a little TLC to clean/service the motors. No other issues.
