Used Lionel Postwar #50, Gang Car Unit, No Box
Very nice powered car from the Lionel postwar era!
Runs on O gauge track with a conventional transformer.
This is variation "D" with the off center horn and blue/dark olive colored crew members.
Tested and working well.
Has a somewhat unique feature in that it has built-in reversible bumper control.
The rod holding the blue bumpers will shift to the front or back of the car, depending on what direction it is traveling. When the bumper hits an object, it will push the rod back the other direction, reversing the car.
The dark olive colored crewman will flip directions when the bumper rod moves, facing the direction the car is traveling.
Very solid construction, this car is heavy for it's size. The bottom frame and wheels are all die-cast metal, with the only plastic being the orange top of the car.
The darker colored crewman is attached to the car and will not come off.
However, the other 2 included crewman have come off of the car. It seems the original owner attempted to glue them back on but did not succeed. The remaining glue can be cleaned and the crewman can most likely be reattached.
Comes with original instructions.
The wheels have a bit of wear, but for their age they are in excellent shape.
Overall, a very nice Lionel Corporation postwar era car!
Perfect for collectors or simply someone looking for a different looking car to add to their O gauge layout!
